Karen Reid and Jim Hill Oral History Award

Students must be enrolled in an independent study or honors thesis engaged in oral history research supervised by a U of L faculty member.
The proposal will be evaluated based on the applicant’s research, scholarly and creative achievements, and the Supervisor’s ability to provide adequate supervision of the project.
Academic achievement will be assessed, and upper-year standing will be prioritized.
Applicants must submit a proposal describing their project to the Centre for Oral History – including a one-page (max) letter from the student and a one-page max letter from the supervising faculty member for the independent study or honours thesis.

  1. Project proposal: Please submit a letter with a description of the project, including the research question and methodology. Your letter should be one page maximum.
  2. Please provide the name and email address of your supervisor. They will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation to support your application. Please communicate with them ahead of time to expect a system-generated email. Their letter should indicate that they have agreed to supervise your research and affirm that there is alignment between your research and their areas of expertise. Letters of recommendation must be submitted by the award deadline.
  3. I hereby authorize Scholarships and Student Finance to distribute all information and documentation pertaining to this application to members of the selection committee.
