In Memory of Harold and Isabelle Skolrood

Harold and Isabelle Skolorod moved to Lethbridge from Vancouver, BC in 1967 when the University of Lethbridge first opened and Harold was appointed as a founding member of the Faculty of Education. Before joining the University, Harold taught in the public school system in Burnaby, BC for many years. Harold taught at the University until his retirement in 1989. Throughout his career, Harold was extensively involved in, and contributed significantly to, the life and work of the University.

Isabelle originally trained as a teacher in British Columbia. In the late 1970’s, she returned to school at the University and obtained her B.Ed. Isabelle then taught in the Lethbridge school system for many years before her retirement in 1991.

Harold and Isabelle believed strongly in the importance of education-a value that they impressed upon their four children, two of whom attended the University of Lethbridge. They also believed in service, both to the University and the broader community.

The Skolrood family is very pleased to sponsor this scholarship to honour Harold and Isabelle and to reflect how important the University has been to the family. They are also excited about the opportunity to support the next generation of educators.
